Noble Viet Tea and the Journey of Vietnam’s Tea Legacy

Born from a passion for tea and wisdom distilled through generations of tea masters, Mr. Nguyen Chung Kien, a son of Hanoi, founded Noble Viet Tea in 2015 with a dream: to elevate Vietnam’s place on the world’s tea map.

The Vietnamese people were among the first in the world to embrace tea culture, some 5,000 years ago, and today Vietnam stands among the world’s largest tea exporters. Yet tragically, our finest teas are not valued as they deserve. It breaks the heart to see the exquisite teas from Tan Cuong in Thai Nguyen province, alongside ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees from the Northwest—some centuries, even millennia old—exported raw at shamefully low prices, squandering nature’s precious gifts. This injustice became the wellspring of Mr. Kien’s determination to build the Noble Viet Tea brand.

His burning ambition: to transform Vietnamese tea and West Lake lotus into Vietnam’s National Treasures, to create teas that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s most prestigious tea brands. This mission became both Noble Viet Tea’s sacred calling and the driving force behind everything we do today.

Rare Terroir, Extraordinary Teas

In Vietnam’s Northwest highlands, 300 kilometers from Hanoi, where mountain ranges cloak themselves in rich, diverse vegetation and mist embraces the land year-round, ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees emerge like guardians from time immemorial. Thousands of these towering ancestral trees grow wild in deep forests, at elevations above 2,000 meters, where mountain streams find their birth and cold mist becomes their eternal companion.

Alongside the Northwest, there is Tan Cuong commune in Thai Nguyen province, just 60 kilometers from Hanoi—the very cradle of Vietnamese tea culture, home to Vietnam’s largest tea-growing region spanning 23,500 hectares. Here, each tea bud is treasured like a precious jewel, yielding liquor of brilliant yellow, fragrant as young green rice, with a hauntingly deep sweetness that has earned it the title of Vietnam’s “First Noble Tea.”

From these precious teas, combined with the hundred-petaled Bach Diep lotus flowers of Hanoi’s West Lake—rare blossoms known as “Heaven’s First Fragrant Lotus” (Thiên hương đệ nhất liên, meaning the most aromatic lotus in Vietnam)—flowers that bloom from ancient alluvial soil accumulated over thousands of years in the imperial capital of Thang Long-Hanoi.

From these three supreme ingredients—ancient Shan Tuyet tea from the Northwest mountains, Tan Cuong Thai Nguyen tea, and the Bach Diep West Lake lotus—Noble Viet Tea creates incomparable teas that exist nowhere else in Vietnam or the world.

Sharing Precious Teas with Tea Lovers Around the World

Before dawn breaks, when the sun has yet to peek over the horizon, the winding mountain paths of the Northwest and the endless tea hills of Tan Cuong come alive with the voices and laughter of tea farmers.

They rise early to capture the golden hours (4-8 AM) for harvesting the youngest, most vibrant tea buds—tender, strong, and full of life. This is when the sun remains low, its rays gentle enough to keep the freshly picked buds from wilting, preserving their precious moisture.

But choosing the perfect harvest time is only the beginning. The picking method itself is an art of infinite care. Noble Viet Tea’s “one bud, one leaf” selections are meticulously hand-picked using carefully grown fingernails, ensuring the tender buds remain unbruised. Tea harvested at dawn is processed the very same day, capturing the complete essence of earth and sky.

During these same precious hours, Bach Diep West Lake lotus flowers are gathered with gentle urgency and carefully preserved to minimize the loss of their ethereal fragrance before the sun climbs high.

From these extraordinary ingredients, using various traditional hand-crafting methods, Noble Viet Tea’s master artisans create lotus teas of rich and varied fragrance, color, and taste—ready to journey to tea lovers around the world, fulfilling our sacred mission to elevate Vietnam’s tea legacy.
